Every claim on HantaScan is sourced from a small set of public-health publishers. This page is the index of those sources, the policy that governs how they are used, and the rules for attribution and revision.

Every page on HantaScan ends with the same source grid. If a number on this site disagrees with the underlying source, the underlying source wins — please file a correction. The site is not a citation; the source is.
The U.S. outline used in the map layer is Blank US Map (states only) 2.svg by Heitordp via Wikimedia Commons, licensed CC BY-SA 3.0. Attribution appears under the map on the homepage and is repeated here.
Paywalled news, social-media posts without primary attribution, and unverifiable individual claims do not become sources. Tips pointing at those items can still be useful — we use them to find primary sources, not to cite directly.
The natural next step is structured export of HantaScan's own data (cases, states, sources, summary) so other public-health surfaces can reuse the same shape — without us becoming the source of record. See the API page for the planned shape.
